Jon Day (owner)
Jon Day is the owner of Artis Strength and Fitness. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a BS in Exercise Science and is also an Adjunct Professor at the University! He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, CrossFit Level 1 Certified, Barbell Certified, CrossFit Football and IKFF certified.
Jon Day has been the Fitness Industry since 2008 and previously coached at CrossFit Omaha. During those years, he gained extensive knowledge on human performance and nutrition through research and one-on-one experience. He has special interests in Strength and Conditioning and Mobility. He knows the importance of a good basis of strength and flexibility to achieve a greater range of motion, which in turn reduces injury and increases results. He has coached everyone from the general public to the CrossFit Games athlete, and has even competed as a Games athlete himself. He has the ability to connect to each of his clients to prescribe an individualized approach to each workout.
Artis Strength and Fitness is a group style workout that can be adapted and scaled to fit the needs of each individual client. Jon specializes in knowing the needs of each of his members to help them get the most out of each workout and provide them with the results they are looking for.

Jen Day (owner)
Jen Day is USAW Level 1 Certified, a Certified Eleiko Strength Coach, CrossFit Level 1 Certified, CrossFit Football certified, studied Physical Education and has a Political Science Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She has been involved in CrossFit since 2009, when she started as a client at CrossFit Omaha. Previous to CrossFit, Jen was a gymnast for ten years and also participated in endurance sports, including marathons and triathlons. She gained a great deal of knowledge on human performance and nutrition while at UNO, CrossFit Omaha and as an athlete, and has always had a passion for researching performance and physiology related topics. currently coaches all Artis Barbell classes, is a USAW Club Coach, and participates in weightlifting as an athlete as well.
Since beginning CrossFit and weightlifting, Jen has gained a passion for Strength and Conditioning and nutrition. She loves coaching athletes of all kinds, but has a particular interest in increasing the population of women in the weightlifting, CrossFit, and strength and conditioning communities. She has two children and has maintained her fitness through both of her pregnancies, including strength training and CrossFitting through her entire second pregnancy.

Shelly coaches our Kids Class! She recently moved to Omaha from the Oklahoma City area. She discovered Crossfit in 2011 and has been coaching kids’ classes since 2014. In addition to Crossfit, Shelly has been competing in triathlons since the early 90’s and has completed 8 half ironman distance races, qualifying to compete for Team USA at age group worlds long course championship in 2012 and 2016. She is devoted wife and a busy mother of 5 awesome children and absolutely loves coaching kids and helping them learn to overcome hard things and do things they didn’t know they could do.
Level 1 Crossfit Certification
Bailey’s desire to coach stems from watching athletes feel empowered by developing their strength and skills. She enjoys seeing people improve their health and overall quality of life through strength and conditioning, and growing their confidence through accomplishments in the gym. She also has a special interest in nutrition for athletes. Bailey started at Artis in 2016, and now trains and competes in the sport of powerlifting. Outside of the gym, she is an accounting & finance professional who enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children, reading, cooking, and escaping to Colorado as often as her schedule allows.
My journey in fitness began after high school and competitive sports ended for me, leaving me with a need to find something “competitive” to do. I tried my hand at running, which is ironic because I was never good enough to actually compete against many other people. My sister, Jen, has always been my own personal fitness-muse, so when she began doing CrossFit I knew I had to try as well. I fell in love with the competitive nature of the sport and have been doing it ever since.
I am a mother to three girls; Grace (passed away in 2012), Annabelle (4), and Charlotte (1). My husband, Dave, and I are both teachers; I work at Aspen Creek Middle School teaching math and he works at Millard North High School teaching US History.
I am thrilled to be a part of the coaching staff at Artis and look forward to empowering people through fitness and health. As a teacher, I love working to help instill self-actualization in my students and I’m excited for the opportunity to have a further reach into the community by doing this in the gym as well.
I am a middle school math teacher with 11 years experience. In that time, I have had the opportunity to coach basketball, cross-country, and track. I volunteer with the YMCA to coach basketball and t-ball for my two children. I have a huge passion for learning and guiding others in their learning process. That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to coach at Artis. I find immense joy in helping others be better than they were the day before no matter their goals.
